Introducing the Apex Social Club at the Palms Las Vegas

“Why not have a few drinks on top of the world?” says Andy Masi of Clique Hospitality. His new Apex Social Club on the 55th floor of the Palms lets partiers do just that in a 4,500-square-foot boutique nightclub setting.

But before revelers even step foot in the nightclub with its views of the Las Vegas Strip from the west, they have to get up there, entering a corridor of black and midnight blue wall coverings before encountering an oversized custom metal screen and two exclusive elevators that head to Apex, designed by Alessandro Munge. The open-air social club features a 360-degree view of Las Vegas from the outdoor patio and terrace. A retractable glass floor-to-ceiling partition separates the club from the open sky.

The space features four pieces of art by Brooklyn-based artist Dustin Yellin dubbed Pyschogeographies. The nearly 3,000-pound humanoid sculptures feature a collage cut from magazines and books, laid down on glass, and fused together with resin to create 3D paintings. All are part of a larger collection of 120 sculptures that are typically displayed like that of the ancient Terracotta Soldiers.

Inside, the bar features bronze metal trim, midnight blue stone, and ombre glass. Aside from the astounding views, visitors can order VIP bottle service, all while looking down on the city.

Best Nightclubs in Cleveland Ohio

Best Dance Clubs in Cleveland – Top Nightlife Spots Downtown

Cleveland has a vibrant nightlife. In addition to numerous top-rated restaurants and bars, The Land has some outstanding clubs to dance the night away, listen to live entertainment, meet with friends, crash and burn with horrid pick up lines(for those who still engage people personally as too many of us have our heads in our cellphones) and chill after a week of working hard in the city where LeBron famously and truthfully stated “Nothing is given, everything is earned”.

There is a lot that separates a good club and a GREAT club. Good food, strong drinks, friendly staff, awesome DJ, beautiful club-goers and security. After taking my Visa and Discover cards to uncharted territory, I was able to find the best night clubs that Cleveland has to offer!

Located in an old bank vault, you will be treated to some of the most decadent cocktails and appetizers in the midwest. New Orleans Mardi Gras 2018 Nightlife Party Guide

Mardi Gras 2018 invades New Orleans AKA “The Big Easy” over the next seven days, and the party doesn’t stop from now until next Wednesday.   There’s no doubt that N’awlins is more of a restaurant, dive bar, and live music venue city, with the lion’s share of the year-round party action centered around the infamous French Quarter and Bourbon Street.   And during the Mardi Gras Festival itself, daytime revelry will be spotted everywhere amidst the city streets of New Orleans: parades, colorful outfits, marching bands, dance trains, bead throwing, and public processions winding their way through the main arteries of the city from dawn ’til dusk… and then there’s little to no break before the freaks (and drunks) come out at night.

Mardi Gras in New Orleans means costumes and exposed flesh everywhere!

That being said, there are also a handful of vastly underrated nightclub options in the Crescent City – opulently decorated showrooms blasting laser-tinted smoke and pulsating music, where the world’s best hip-hop and electronic music artists stop in to perform as their national tour dates wind through the American South.  To be sure, New Orleans is and always will be an ultra-casual city – think shorts, flip-flops, and t-shirts with rude sayings on them – but sometimes you just want to dress up, be more fancy, sip adult cocktails, and bob your head to a beat… amirite or amirite?   Well, we’ve found found the best spots for you to do just that, and our app will make it easy to party hard in The Big Easy.  To celebrate our in-app launch of New Orleans, we give you our top picks for the best nightlife events for visitors and locals to celebrate Mardi Gras:

Friday, February 9, 2018

Fleur De Lit 2018 @ Republic NOLA

The Friday before Mardi Gras is considered early to party in New Orleans, as most of the locals are preparing parade floats and resting up for the days to come.  That being said, there are some events to whet the tourists’ appetites for partying on Fri-yays.    Winter Circle Productions & BASSIK Present Fleur De Lit 2018: Second Annual Mardi Gras Mayhem.  This is a two-day late-night electronic music festival at the revered New Orleans nightspot Republic, with the first night featuring San Jose, CA’s up-and-coming bass-heavy artist Getter.  Backup sounds by Klutch + Kidd Love.

Time: 11:30 PM – 3:00 AM

Venue: Republic (828 S Peters St, New Orleans, LA 70130)

Boombox Cartel @ Metropolitan

Mardi Gras may a bucket list vacation for many Americans, but for this particular 9-to-5 workday you’ll be grinding hard and sweating buckets.   Metropolitan NOLA has cobbled together a high-energy eight-hour electronic set headlined by brand-name duo Boombox Cartel.  Mexican born Producer/DJ’s Americo Garcia and Jorge Medina have quickly risen in fame among the EDM circuit and are due for a breakout 2018 in the electronic space with their unique low-end, heavy genre-blending sound. Their tracks are played all over the world by the likes of RL Grime, Diplo, Skrillex, and DJ Snake, and they have recently received shout-outs from Mad Decent, Billboard, Noisey, ThisSongIsSick, Complex, and many more. Their global tour has included sold out performances in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and Asia, including festival plays at Moonrise, Global Dance, Lollapalooza and EDC just to name a few.  Now Boombox Cartel brings the boom north of the border to the land of Southern Hospitality and one of our great nation’s best annual party atmospheres.

Time: 9:00 PM – 5:00 AM

Venue: Metropolitan (310 Andrew Higgins Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70130)

Bacchus Parade Afterparty w/ DJ Keith Scott @ Masquerade

The local organizations responsible for throwing the world-famous parades on each day of the Mardi Gras festival are called Krewes.  Each Mardi Gras Parade Krewe has a unique history and theme.   Some have been around for decades, while others have been in existence for just a few years.  The Krewe of Bacchus, a local group formed in 1968, holds its parade on the Sunday before Mardi Gras Day, drawing crowds of several hundred thousands every year. With more than 1,000 members and 31 animated super-floats, the Krewe of Bacchus is revered as one of the most spectacular krewes in Carnival history; their large signature floats, Rendezvous supper dance with Las Vegas-type entertainment, and national celebrity monarchs are just a few of the tradition-breaking moves that set the Krewe of Bacchus apart from he rest.  Bacchus, the Greek god of wine, has been portrayed in past Mardi Gras parades by fun-loving celebrities such as Bob Hope, William Shatner, Dick Clark, Andy Garcia, and Will Ferrell.  After their parade wraps up, the afterparty shifts over to Masquerade, the Vegas-style nightclub inside Harrah’s Casino, for a wild dance party featuring DJ Keith Scott, a mainstay on Louisiana hip-hop radio stations.

Time: 10:00 PM – 2:00 AM

Venue: Masquerade (8 Canal St, New Orleans, LA 70130)

Monday, February 12th, 2018

Steve Aoki & Grandtheft @ Metropolitan

The Lundi Gras celebration is a grand New Orleans tradition embedded into the fabric of both locals’ and tourists’ traditions of honoring carnival season.  Lundi Gras represents a series of events that take place the Monday before Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday. It has experienced a 20th century revival in New Orleans and is a must see daytime event for Mardi Gras revelers.  In the late afternoon, the Riverwalk Marketplace will host the annual Lundi Gras at Spanish Plaza with the arrival on the banks of the Mississippi River of Rex, King of Carnival; this free celebration includes fireworks and live musical entertainment.  As day turns into night, the Big Easy fireworks continue over at Metropolitan where Rex, King of Carnival yields his dominion to Aoki, King of Electronic Dance.   Brace yourself for a tough ticket but an epic time if you can squeeze your way in.

Time: 9:00 PM – 5:00 AM

Venue: Metropolitan (310 Andrew Higgins Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70130)

10th Annual Lundifest f/ Waka Flocka Flame @ Republic NOLA

Southern hip-hop star Waka Flocka Flame, with mega-hits like “No Hands” and “Hard In The Paint” under his belt, is sure to be one of the highest energy sets in the 10-year history of the Lundifest.  In New Orleans tradition, the night will start out with brass versions of hip-hop hits by New Orleans natives The Hot 8 Brass Band.  Come early and stay late, because Republic’s long-time resident, DJ G, will be spinning top 40s and hip-hop classics before, between, and after all the live sets.  Performances will start shortly after the parades pass downtown, so watch the Orpheus parade nearby and walk right on over for another epic Lundifest.

Time: 9:00 PM – 3:00 AM

Venue: Republic (828 S Peters St, New Orleans, LA 70130)

Tuesday, February 13th, 2018

Mardi Gras Takeover @ Masquerade

For the past hot minute, Bernice Burgos has been making quite the name for herself.  The bartender turned “urban model” turned entrepreneur (3.7M Twitter followers!) has been turning up everywhere from your favorite artist’s music video to hip-hop morning radio stations to the gossip websites, thanks to her social media beef with Tiny Harris, wife of rapper T.I. and fellow reality TV star (4.5M Twitter followers!).  OK, OK, so reality TV may not be your cup of tea…. but rest assured, Ms. B’s presence as the marquee host for Masquerade’s Mardi Gras afterparty will explain why this venue inside Harrah’s Casino will be the “it” place of the night filled with famous/not-so-famous/wannabe-famous Instagram models, hip-hop celebrities, and known athletes such as the “Honey Badger” Tyrann Mathieu (a Lousiana State University legend) and local hero (and fantasy football god) Alvin Kamara of the NFL’s New Orleans Saints.  Pony up and bottle up… because if you can’t YOLO on Mardi Gras, you probably shouldn’t YOLO ever.

Time: 10:00 PM – 3:30 AM

Venue: Masquerade (8 Canal St, New Orleans, LA 70130)

More events and more venues for Mardi Gras 2018 in New Orleans can be found on the Discotech app.  Have a crazy but safe weekend, make sure to where lots of purple, green, & gold, always use the buddy system around town, and make sure to stock up on those beads!

Minneapolis Super Bowl 2018 Party Guide

The NFL season comes to a close this week with its championship game, Super Bowl 52 (or LII, when in Rome), which this year will depart from the norm of warm-weather locales to take place in a jewel of a stadium on the frozen tundra of Minneapolis, Minnesota.  This year’s contest pits the favorite New England Patriots – seeking back-to-back rings and their sixth title in franchise history – against the underdog Philadelphia Eagles, who are in the hunt for their franchise’s first-ever title.  The plucky Eagles earned their spot in big dance by beating the heavily favored Minnesota Vikings, who if they had beaten the Eagles would have been the first NFL team to play the Super Bowl in their own home stadium. (As ol’ Donnie Trump would say, SAD!)

Unlike the hometown Vikes, Discotech has indeed found its way to the Super Bowl Weekend bash in Minny.  To celebrate this week’s well-timed in-app launch of Minneapolis / St. Paul – our twenty-seventh metro market – we give you our top picks.  Not for the football game – who knows who will win??? – but rather the picks for the best Super Bowl postgame parties/events around the Twin Cities – sure to be star-studded and celebrity-filled – for visitors and locals to celebrate the Big Game:

Thursday, February 1, 2018

Big Game Weekend Kickoff Party f/ Cardi B @ Privé

One of the best things about the past NFL season was the decision to allow players to perform choreographed big play / scoring play celebration dances.  This made the football games much more fun for NFL fans and resulted in hundreds of hilarious, exuberant, joyful, and memorable moments like this.    Funny enough, in addition to being the year of the touchdown dance, 2017 was also the year of “I don’t gotta dance… I make money moves!”  This catchy-as-hell hook has been arguably the most repeated hip-hop lyric since the NFL season started, and it belonged to Grammy nominee and current hip-hop “It” girl Cardi B.   It’s no surprise that Ms. B – the most talked about female hip-hop artist since Nicki Minaj – is splashed all over the 2018 Super Bowl scene, headlining no less than five big weekend events.  Her march from the locker room to the 50-yard line for kickoff starts Thursday night at Privé, a hip-hop nightclub brand imported from New York, Miami, and Atlanta to capitalize upon the growing upscale urban scene in Minneapolis / St. Paul.

Time: 10:00 PM – 4:00 AM

Venue: Privé (315 N 1st Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55401)

TAO Minneapolis Big Game Weekend Takeover Day One f/ Rick Ross & DJ Irie @ The Pourhouse

One of the strongest nightlife entertainment brands nationwide with properties in Las Vegas, New York, Los Angeles, and most recently Chicago, the Tao Group now brings the ultimate nightlife experience to the Twin Cities for Super Bowl LII weekend.  CLM Presents and Empire Entertainment are packing the Pourhouse with the world’s favorite artists for four unforgettable nights.  Sponsored by Element Electronics, Dash Radio, Tequila Avion, Drake’s Organic Spirits, Mountain Dew Ice, and Bud Light, the Tao Takeover kicks off on Thursday night with a 6-hour set featuring DJ Scooter, DJ Serafin, DJ Irie, and “Tha Boss” aka “Ricky Rozay” aka “Miami’s Finest” aka Rick Ross.

Time: 10:00 PM – 4:00 AM

Venue: The Pourhouse (10 S 5th St #11, Minneapolis, MN 55402)

Friday, February 2, 2018

Big Game Weekend Party f/ Gucci Mane & Young Thug @ Privé

The premier venue for hip-hop luminaries visiting Minneapolis-St. Paul, Privé features state of the art audio and visual technologies incorporated into a wall-sized video board with dozens of LCD TVs and an EAW™ Avalon Sound System.   The venue offers sophisticated design for sophisticated upscale event planning, making it a ideal venue for Super Bowl Weekend events.  Friday night, Atlanta is in the building as hip-hop heavy hitters Gucci Mane and Young Thug quarterback the football-themed festivities.

Time: 10:00 PM – 4:00 AM

Venue: Privé (315 N 1st Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55401)

Saturday, February 3, 2018

Travis Scott @ Myth

Travis Scott’s music had already taken him to quite a few places, even before he was famous enough to be recognized in any of them.  He has lived on the east and west coasts of the U.S., as well as the “third coast” of his native Houston, Texas.  However, in 2017 he really came into his own, gaining worldwide acclaim after being promoted by one of his earliest fans, superstar Kanye West.  Fresh off the announcement of the moving of his Las Vegas residency from Hakkasan Group over to Tao Group, Travis now ascends to an even bigger stage than Sin City as the feature headliner for Super Bowl Weekend festivities.  PJAM Productions, Twin City Live, ECL Events & Notoriety invite fans to experience a wild night with Travis Scott, DJ Spade, DJ Reach, and other special guests at a locally revered Minnesota institution that has been newly renovated in time for the Super Bowl party crowds.

Time: 10:00 PM – 4:00 AM

Venue: Myth (3090 Southlawn Dr, Minneapolis, MN 55109)

TAO Minneapolis Big Game Weekend Takeover Day Three f/ Afrojack, G-Eazy, & Nick Cannon @ The Exchange

The third day of the pre-Super Bowl festivities figures to be the most hectic and highest in-demand, as nearly all fans and revelers will have made it into town and are willing to brave the inclement winter temperatures to find the best parties.  Tao Group is saving their best for this signature night, with big performances by Afrojack, G-Eazy, and Nick Cannon across three separate venues at The Exchange MPLS complex.  G-Eazy will do a separate concert at the Lumber Exchange hall and then afterward join Afrojack at the Pourhouse; jack-of-all-trades Nick Cannon will be at the Exchange / Alibi Lounge venue on MC/singing/rapping/comedy/entertaining duties with support by legendary NYC DJ Mix Master Mike.

Time: 10:00 PM – 4:00 AM

Venue: The Exchange (10 S 5th St #11, Minneapolis, MN 55402)

DJ Khaled @ Aqua

As its name suggests, Aqua’s sleek seating, translucent second level balcony railings, and surreal blue-hued lighting combine to create the illusion of partying in an aquarium (getting tanked in a tank, get it?).  A popular bachelor/bachelorette party destination for the upscale twentysomething locals in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, Aqua offers a host of amenities to make any celebratory occasion an evening to remember.  As such, it’s an ideal venue for one of the world’s biggest hip-hop moguls to throw an epic party on one of the world’s biggest sports weekends.  Khaled’s stage show at last year’s Coachella – aka the Super Bowl of music festivals – was a wild one full of energy and A-list cameos. We’re expecting his stage show at the actual Super Bowl – aka the Coachella of sports – to be even better.

Time: 10:00 PM – 4:00 AM

Venue: Aqua (400 N 1st Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55401)

Sunday, February 4, 2018

Big Game Watch Party w/ Floyd Mayweather, 2Chainz, Lil Wayne, & Fabolous @ Privé

There’s only one athlete that knows more than Patriots quarterback Tom Brady about winning championships and defending titles: boxing legend Floyd Mayweather.  Money May defeated MMA mega-superstar Conor McGregor and retired last September with a perfect 50-0 record, and in his post-career days he’s launched a Vegas strip club and become a fixture on the hip-hop circuit as a party host for high-end events with black America’s A-List actors, musicians, and athletes.  Rubbing elbows and talking pigskin with the ever-talkative Mayweather and his TMT crew should be enough of a draw in itself, but with three legendary rappers also providing the postgame fireworks entertainment late into the chilly Minnesota morning, this event will surely be one of the toughest weekend party tickets to score anywhere on the frozen tundra.

Time: 10:00 PM – 4:00 AM

Venue: Privé (315 N 1st Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55401)

Super LIV on Sunday @ The Pourhouse

Dave Grutman and crew’s infamous hip-hop playground – where fresh NBA champs go instead of Disney World, rap beefs get hashed out, and Lil Wayne and Drake show up on random weekends without advance notice – imports its own resident DJ Stevie J from sunny South Beach to the frozen north.  After the big game, expect to see quite few Eagles and Patriots players – and players from other NFL teams – in here either drowning their sorrows or celebrating the pinnacle of their careers, making this the big party weekend’s dessert with cherry on top.

Time: 10:00 PM – 4:00 AM

Venue: The Pourhouse (10 S 5th St #11, Minneapolis, MN 55402)

More events and more venues for Super Bowl Weekend 2018 in Minneapolis-St.Paul can be found on the Discotech app.  Have a safe night out, please don’t drink and drive, and may your team be crowned the champ on Super Bowl Sunday!

Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018 Party Guide

The annual International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) – with over 180,000 registered participants – descends upon Sin City this coming week.  If you’re joining us from out of town and are attending the conference, then you are in store for hellacious crowds, physically demanding marathon race-walks, and long days stacked back-to-back with vendor/partner meetings, sales pitches, and product demos.  But hey, don’t let this Vegas trip on the company dime go to waste.  You know what they say:  Work Hard, Play Harder.  And you can always catch up on sleep on the long plane ride home… or when you’re dead.

Here’s a recap of the best parties around town after the sun goes down during CES 2018 Week:

Monday, January 8th, 2018

French Montana @ Marquee Nightclub

French is ready to go “All The Way Up” for CES – are you?

CES doesn’t officially kick off until Tuesday morning, but the majority of convention attendees will fly into town on Monday morning, set up their booths at the Las Vegas Convention Center all afternoon, and be chomping at the bit to get the party started in Sin City as the sun goes down.  There are a few Monday night events and mixers around town, including the free Startup Night Downtown Vegas, where visitors can get a sneak peek at 15 of the hottest local startups from nearby Eureka Park. NASA, Lighter Capital, Scout Ventures, and other industry leaders will help select two winners who will go on to compete in the 2018 Startup of the Year competition.  Welcome mixers end around 9pm, and the hottest afterparty will be at Marquee Industry Mondays, where Grammy-nominated Moroccan-American hip-hop star French Montana will take CES revelers “All The Way Up” into the wee hours of the morning.  Pro tip 1: Sign up for the *FREE guest list* using the Discotech app.  Pro tip 2:  MAKE SURE YOU WAKE UP.  Set your hotel room alarm clock BEFORE you head out onto the Strip… or tell a co-worker to send you a wakeup call so you can get to the Convention Center or where you need to be on time.  Or else your employability will be going all the way down.

Time: 10:00 PM – 5:00 AM

Venue: Marquee @ Cosmopolitan (3708 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109)

Tuesday, January 9th, 2018

Chainsmokers @ XS

Don’t ask them to play that Blink 182 song that you beat to death in Tucson, OK?

Is there any doubt that 2017 was the year of The Chainsmokers?   A slew of Song of The Decade candidates, a global world tour that can only be described as EPIC, and of course the residencies at two of the hottest nightclubs in Vegas.  This past year the duo put on numerous supercharged performances to packed houses at XS Nightclub and Encore Beach Club at the Wynn — and on the heels of the Grammy-winning pop duo’s incredible inaugural year as Steve’s nightlife residents, The Chainsmokers will headline Sin City’s biggest convention week behind the decks at XS Nightclub.  Tickets will start at $50 for men and $35 for ladies, giving access to both indoor and outdoor sections of the mega-club (stage access is not included unless you have a table). Tables range from a $2K minimum spend on the outdoor patio to a $15K minimum spend for VIP stage tables, with tax/gratuity/venue fees totaling about 35% on top of your group’s final spend amount.

Time: 10:30 PM – 4:00 AM

Venue: XS @ The Encore (3131 Las Vegas Blvd S, Las Vegas, NV 89109)

Steve Aoki @ Omnia

Cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake….

A 2017 Hakkasan Group resident and the selected headliner for their 2018 Consumer Electronics Show festivities at their flagship venue, Steve Aoki is known for the enthralling electronic sounds and hard-hitting beats of his highly energetic shows.  The DJ, producer, and California native began his musical career in 1996 as founder of Dim Mak Records; since then his label has released over 250 music records for other notable electro house artists such as Datsik, Infected Mushroom, Dada Life, Zeds Dead, Aoki’s own collaboration with Tiësto, MSTRKRFT, The Bloody Beetroots, Felix Cartal and Mustard Pimp, Bloc Party, Battles, The Kills, The Gossip, Klaxons, Scanners, Whitey, and Mystery Jets just to name a few.   A surefire fan favorite for his captivating stage presence and zany antics – his signature move is throwing cakes into the crowd – Aoki enthralls dance floors and concert halls around the globe with his remixes and collaborations with some of the best-known DJs and recording artists of our time, including Celine Dion.  This is the official opening party for CES, and all CES attendees will enjoy an open bar from 10-11 PM and complimentary entry with their CES badge or event pass. Will Aoki invite any CES visitors to join him on stage at Omnia to do his world-famous “Aoki Jump” for the 2018 jump-off?  Get your tickets and make plans now, because it could be you…

Time: 10:30 PM – 4:00 AM

Venue: OMNIA @ Caesar’s Palace  (3570 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109)

Wednesday, January 10th, 2018

Marshmello @ Intrigue

That one time you took off the VR headset and the person in front of you STILL looked like THIS.

Midway through CES week, your brain will probably be fried by all the relentless techie small talk, Virtual Reality headsets, driverless car rides, and awkward social interactions with the hordes of nerds and hipsters.   Wouldn’t it be fund to recharge by spending part of your CES rollicking and laughing the night away with one of EDM’s most talented artists and one of its funniest, quirkiest personalities?  After your CES company dinner, leave the graybeards of upper management at the slot machines, because this show will be for the twentysomething kids (and Janice in Accounting, because she’s cool AF).  A picture is worth a thousand words, and a Youtube clip is worth a million.   Enough said.

Time: 10:30 PM – 4:00 AM

Venue: Intrigue @ The Wynn (3131 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV  89109)

Rick Ross @ Light

The boss that you wish you had at work.

Not only is CES one of the most exciting weeks for technology, it’s also an exciting week for music, as prime music artists flock to Vegas to entertain the masses that the convention brings in to town.  Mandalay Bay at the far south end of The Strip – one of the furthest hotels away from the Las Vegas Convention Center – is getting in on the action too.  But after a long couple of days covering over 1,900 square feet of exhibitions, you’ll definitely need to unwind and may not be up for the hike (or monorail ride).  The choice is yours: you can head back to your room, crawl into bed, put on the noise-canceling headphones, and lose yourself in some gangster rap… or you can dump all your pamphlets, shower up, get suited and booted, and find your second wind with Grammy-winning rapper Rick Ross and the gorgeous crowd he always draws.  We strongly suggest Option #2 – because nothing gets your mind off your mean boss like your dream boss AKA “The Boss” AKA Ricky Rozay.

Time: 10:30 PM – 5:00AM

Venue: Light @ Mandalay Bay (3950 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89119)

Tiesto @ Hakkasan

New Year’s resolution for this guy: More Vegas.

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. It looks like globe-trotting DJ and producer Tiësto will be staying as well, with the extension of his multi-year residency, which will go through 2020. The news was revealed last month in a press statement made by Hakkasan Group, which operates Hakkasan Nightclub, Wet Republic and several other clubs for both day and nightlife.  “It is an honor to return to Hakkasan Group and to continue my residencies at Hakkasan Nightclub and Wet Republic,” says Tiësto. “Vegas has come to feel like home, and through my residency with Hakkasan Group, I feel proud of the space we’ve created here for dance music. I look forward to many more opportunities to be inspired by this incredible city in venues that are consistently full of energy.”  Tiësto’s first performance of 2018 comes during CES; the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino will also be converting its main lobby to host meet-and-greets and more. Tickets to both events can be purchased here.

Time: 10:30 PM – 5:00 AM

Venue: Hakkasan @ MGM Grand (3799 S Las Vegas Blvd S ,Las Vegas, NV 89109)

DJ Mustard @ Tao

One beat please. Bacon-wrapped, hold the ketchup, hold the relish.

We assume most of you – yes, even you CES nerds – are at least peripherally familiar with DJ Mustard at this point.  Even if you aren’t, you’ve definitely heard a beat he’s created on your local radio station within the past five years, and you couldn’t get away from DJ Mustard in 2017: he burned up the airwaves month after month collaborating with some of hip-hop’s biggest names.  The Pushaz Ink affiliate has pioneered what he describes as “ratchet music”, and is a close friend of fellow California artist YG, also serving as his official tour DJ. Throughout his young career, the L.A. native has already collaborated with the likes of Young Jeezy, Tyga, 2 Chainz, TeeFlii, Nipsey Hussle, Ty Dolla $ign and many more.   Let’s face it: YG’s “My N*gga”, 2 Chainz’ “I’m Different” and Tyga’s “Rack City” are all DJ Mustard tracks that you – and every techie in your IT department and coding development team – had in your Spotify playlist and secretly know all the words to.  Now is your chance to sing along in person with zero shame and zero f*cks given, as Mustard returns to the site of his 2017 Vegas residency for a special CES performance featuring surprise guests and all his hits.  Main room tables start at $1,000 minimum spend; if you have control of the company AMEX card, those dance floor tables go for $4,000 and can be expensed to “team-building exercises” that are way more fun than trapezes or yoga retreats.

Time: 10:00 PM – 4:00 AM

Venue: Tao @ The Venetian (3355 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109)

DJ Esco @ Drai’s Nightclub

If you made it this far into CES week… then you’re from here.

Electronic dance music reigned supreme in Vegas throughout 2017, consistently commanding the highest-price tickets and tables in nightclubs around town.  That being said, there’s no doubt that hip-hop is enjoying a resurgence at the moment, and Drai’s Las Vegas has been a big reason behind that comeback.  This past year saw Drai’s surge to the top of the Vegas hip-hop nightlife ecosystem by committing to booking top-tier talent – Future, Migos, G-Eazy, Lil’ Wayne, to name a few – which in turn made Drai’s a coveted brand and destination not only for hip-hop royalty but for professional athletes and all of black Hollywood.  Yeah, yeah, yeah – we know that the Official CES Closing Party is just down the road at the Venetian.  But half of your compadres will already have skipped town, and the eggheads who worked too hard all convention week will be trying too hard to have fun there.  So trust us when we say the better party atmosphere will be elsewhere on the strip.  The coolest Vegas stories come from partying with the cool kids AKA us Vegas locals, and there will be plenty of them at the legendary Drai’s on Friday night bumping to DJ Esco and taking their city back from the hordes of CES tourists, prior to ending the night / starting the morning next door at the infamous Drai’s After Hours.

Time: 10:00 PM – 4:00AM (Drai’s After Hours goes from 2:00am to noon)

Venue: Drai’s Nightclub @ The Cromwell (3595 Las Vegas Blvd S, Las Vegas, NV 89109)

New York City / Brooklyn New Year’s Eve 2018 Party Guide

The Answer: Somewhere between 0 and 1.

The Question: What is the recommended number of times in their life a person should visit Times Square to witness the world-famous ball drop on New Year’s Eve?

Some people do happen to think that throwing themselves into one of the biggest, maddest, messiest crushes of humanity on the planet to bring in the New Year shoulder-to-shoulder with a million strangers (and millions around the world watching) is an exciting item to cross off their bucket lists.  For most of us normal human beings, ugh and no thanks – hard pass.  From the bitterly cold winter weather to the claustrophobic lack of space to the earsplitting noise to the filthy aftermath of narrow trash-strewn streets that were already pretty dirty to begin with, we believe that New Year’s Eve in New York City should be spent ANYWHERE BUT its tourist trap central artery.

For one last chance in 2017 you’ve got a tailor-made excuse to set aside all your past year’s disappointments – and trust us, Times Square on NYE would be yet another disappointment – and promise yourself that next year will be THE BEST YEAR OF YOUR LIFE, all while surrounding yourself with fun-loving strangers, pulsating music, and premium liquor as you dance all your cares away.  And there are few better cities in the world for doing this than in New York City, one the world’s preeminent entertainment destinations, with hundreds of fabulous party options to suit any taste.

Discotech can most certainly assist with you finding year-end good fortune in a great party atmosphere.  Here our Top 3 picks for the best NYE nightclub parties/events around the Big Apple for you and your friends to close out 2017 and ring in 2018:

1) Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano @ Marquee NY

Feel the New York City lights this New Year’s Eve at the chic and illustrious Marquee Nightclub, featuring the world-renowned electronic music DJs Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano.  A fixture within its sister locations of Las Vegas and Sydney, the Marquee brand continues to dominate New York nightlife and consistently attracts the city’s A-list crowd as well as celebrities, models, and moguls from all over the world.   While the tourists overrun the Times Square area for New Year’s Eve festivities, Marquee remains comfortably tucked away just outside of the fray in nearby Chelsea, and it will be where the well-heeled and influential New York professionals will ring in 2018. Make sure to buy your tickets now to join the party, as this event has sold out every year since its launch nearly a decade ago.  General Admission Includes a 4-Hour Premium Open Bar from 8:30PM-12:30AM, passed trey hors d’oeuvres, and a midnight champagne toast.

Time: 8:30 PM – 4:00 AM

Venue: Marquee NY (289 10th Ave, New York, NY 10001)

2) Dream Downtown New Year’s Eve @ pHD Downtown

Located inside the Dream Hotel,  the aptly named pHD has long been a favorite weekday haunt for the city’s large global graduate student community and the even larger community of recent graduates that flock to NYC endlessly to take on new jobs every year.  Whether you’re still in school or have been out for some time, you’re about to earn your advanced degree in partying it up at this haute rooftop nightclub and lounge bar. Decked out in Italian Portoro marble, Macassar ebony, nickel finish walls, and amber Venini glass chandeliers, pHD is a memorable ambiance for putting on the ultimate penthouse party, and it will be rocking into 2018.  Swing, sway and swerve with locals to the on-point beats of guest DJs, and pop out to the landscaped terrace from time to time for one of the city’s most spectacular uninterrupted sightline views of the Hudson River and Empire State Building.  General Admission Includes a 4-Hour Premium Open Bar from 8:30PM-12:30AM, passed trey hors d’oeuvres, a live feed of the Times Square New Year’s Eve Ball Drop, a champagne toast at midnight, and festive NYE party favors.

3) Gilded Lily New Year’s Eve @ Gilded Lily

From the speakeasies of the Roaring ’20s to the Studio 54 disco set of the ’70s and ’80s, NYC has been a backdrop for the “The Golden Age” of partying.  In 2018, this legacy continues – quite literally – at Gilded Lily, a renowned lavish ultra-club that begins its fourth year as a go-to hotspot in the Meatpacking District.  As you descend down the staircase (or freight elevator if you’re a VIP), you notice that the gold-dusted club is shaped like a pizza peel: the narrow entry and bar area feeds into a sunken dance floor surrounded by concentric rings of banquettes. Plush bottle service couches reign beneath a giant chandelier blinking with digitalized rainbows.  For New Year’s Eve, seasoned local promotions crew Dream Hospitality Group bucks the gilded tradition of their chosen host venue to throw a relatively moderately priced shindig with a friendly house party feel.  Of course, if you still want to be rather excessive, you’re more than welcome to do so: a $5,000 min spend will get you the best table in the house and 10 bottles for 20 friends, as well as the all-important title of the “Gilded King” with a jewel-encrusted crown and scepter to begin your your iron-fisted rule over 2018.  Dilly dilly!

Las Vegas New Year’s Eve 2018 Party Guide

Was 2017 a lucky one for you???  For Las Vegas – the entertainment, nightlife, and gambling capital of the world – it was certainly an up-and-down year.  On one hand, the city welcomed its first professional sports franchise – the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights – with great crowds and rousing early success, and then broke ground on a new stadium for its soon-to-be second, the NFL’s Raiders franchise (moving from Oakland in 2020).  On the other hand, the city also suffered an unspeakable tragedy in the form of the worst terrorist mass shooting in American history during its annual Route 91 Harvest Country Music Festival back in October.

As the year draws to a close, a sense of normalcy and community has returned to Las Vegas, and its glittering fast-paced lifestyle is proudly back on display for all to see – #VEGASSTRONG no doubt.   The trademark winter chill has descended upon the desert, but the casinos, entertainment shows, nightclubs, and bars have bounced back well and warmly from this past autumn’s tragedy.  The city’s locals are forever grateful for the emotional and financial support provided by the renewed streams of visitors coming from all over the world, and they are ready to do what they do best: deliver you stress-free good times for New Year’s Eve weekend and beyond, well into the 2018 calendar year.

For one last chance in 2017 you’ve got a tailor-made excuse to set aside all your past year’s disappointments and low points and promise yourself that next year will be THE BEST YEAR OF YOUR LIFE, all while surrounding yourself with fun-loving strangers, pulsating music, and premium liquor as you dance all your cares away.  And there are few better cities in the world for doing this than in Sin City, the world’s preeminent entertainment destination, with hundreds of fabulous party options to suit any taste.

In Vegas, they say “Luck Be A Lady” and all visitors hope and pray this fleeting dame does plant a lucky midnight kiss on their cheek to ring in the New Year.   While we can’t control what happens to you at the blackjack or craps tables this weekend, Discotech can most certainly assist with you finding good fortune at a great party.  Here our “Lucky Seven” picks for the best NYE nightclub parties/events around Sin City for you and your friends – be they Rat Pack or Wolfpack – to ring in 2018:

Toast to a memorable year with Bellagio as The Bank brings in the New Year the only way it knows how: with fabulous parties, amazing menus and drink specials, and over-the-top entertainment in the form of pop mega-superstar Bruno Mars.  Ring in 2018 in glitz and glamour and dance the night away in the 24K magic glow of the “24K Magic” man, who wraps up his year-long global tour with an encore return to the same venue where he rang in the 2012 and 2017 New Year’s celebrations.

Is there any doubt that 2017 was the year of The Chainsmokers?   A slew of Song of The Decade candidates, a global world tour that can only be described as EPIC, and of course the residencies at two of the hottest nightclubs in Vegas.  This past year the duo put on numerous supercharged performances to packed houses at XS Nightclub and Encore Beach Club at the Wynn — and now for the Grammy-winning pop duo’s incredible inaugural year as Steve’s nightlife residents, The Chainsmokers will lead the countdown to 2018 behind the decks at XS Nightclub.  All Access New Year’s Eve tickets will be $150 for men and $125 for ladies, giving access to both indoor and outdoor sections of the mega-club. Stage access is not included. Under the Stars tickets, with outdoor access only, are priced at $75 for men and $65 for ladies. Tables range from a $2K minimum spend on the outdoor patio to a $30K minimum spend for VIP stage tables.

3) NYE 2018 f/ Chris Brown @ Drai’s Nightclub

For New Year’s Eve, superstar performer Chris Brown – arguably the hardest working artist in R&B hip-hop – graces the stage to open 2018 in front of a star-studded and celebrity-filled crowd.  The pride of Virginia has made a reputation among Vegas locals for club performances that last over 3 hours – nearly twice as long as those of other headlining artists – so lucky fans in attendance will definitely get their money’s worth.  Ticketholders for the event will receive two complimentary glasses of champagne to toast at midnight.  Oh, and this will be a black-tie affair…. so channel your best James Bond impressions,  take this tutorial, and come to the Cromwell dressed to the nines.

4) NYE 2018 f/ 2 Chainz @ 1OAK Las Vegas

If you’re a 2 Chainz hater, then you’ve spent a frustrating 2017 sitting on your hands while the Atlanta-born native has burned up the radio airwaves month after month.   Fast on the heels of his third album release in 2016, 2 Chainz dropped his fourth studio album “Pretty Girls Like Trap Music” to start the summer, and it immediately became the go-to album for barbecue/pool party background music.  Star-studded tracks such as “Good Drank” featuring Gucci Mane and Quavo, “4 AM” featuring Travis Scott, “Big Amount,” featuring Drake, and of course the ultra-catchy “It’s A Vibe” featuring Ty Dolla $ign, Jhené Aiko, and Trey Songz kept the star in the public eye, and his “Pretty Girls Like Trap Music” tour with his The Trap Choir was a smashing success.   For New Year’s Eve he returns to the site of his 2017 Vegas residency for a special performance featuring surprise guests and all his hits; lounge room tables start at $1,000 and main room tables at $2,500.

5) Steve Aoki @ Hakkasan

New York Looks To Appoint “Night Mayor” to Regulate Nightlife and Warehouse Parties

Following on the footsteps of cities the likes of Amsterdam, Paris and London, NYC is now looking toward appointing a Night Mayor to overlook the metropolis’ nightlife.

New York City Councilman Rafael Espinal began putting together a proposal for legislation that calls for an entire section of local government to protect and manage the nightlife industry.  According to Espinal’s plan the Office Of Nightlife would oversee the regulation of the city’s DIY art and warehouse spaces, and would be the liaison point between City Hall and New York’s bustling $10 billion nightlife economy.

The Office of Nightlife would be overseen by a Night Mayor, in a very similar manner to metropolises in Europe such as Zurich, Amsterdam, Paris and London. With the recent attention on safety and licensing regulation, the city has suffered a loss with regards to the DIY art community. The Night Mayor would come in to oversee, preserve and protect the DIY scene and other smaller-scale venues.

Last call at California bars could be 4 a.m. under proposed law

Closing time might get a little later at your favorite drinking spot thanks to a state senator who has proposed legislation to allow cities to decide how late alcohol can be served.

The Let Our Communities Adjust Late Night Act, which was proposed Tuesday, would allow municipalities to set their own last-call times. Currently, last call is at 2 a.m. across the state. Under the bill by state Sen. Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco), urban centers with active bar scenes could move last call back as late as 4 a.m., while less nightlife-heavy areas could keep things the way they are.

Wiener said on his Facebook page that it was time to fix the “one-size-fits-all” limit.

“Nightlife matters a lot, culturally and economically, and it’s time to allow local communities more flexibility,” he wrote.

The last person to attempt to give cities flexibility in setting last call times was Wiener’s predecessor in the Legislature, former Sen. Mark Leno, in 2013 . The bill failed to get enough votes to move out of committee.
