Top 10 Best Bachelorette (Hen) Party Activities In Los Angeles

Headed to Los Angeles for a hen (bachelorette) party soon? In addition to dinners and nightlife, you’ll need to plan other daytime and early-evening group activities for the bachelorette and her group that are fun and memorable, while still giving you the most value for your money spent.

The L.A that out-of-town visitors – 48 million a year! – want to see is most likely the “Hollywood / Venice Beach” one: steamy summer temps, laid-back chill vibes, sheer opulence, fast money, fashionably glamorous excess, and glitzy sensory overload.  Of course, the locals and insiders are happy to deliver upon those stereotypes, because that’s the version that tourists pay handsomely to witness and be a part of. And Angelenos surely play that fiddle in harmonious tune, because more tourists visiting SoCal will mean more revenues generated and jobs created for the state’s sun-kissed residents!

Why is planning a bachelorette party so hard?

Your bachelorette has just chosen the City of Angels as the destination city and assembled her final list; now, you as the Maid of Honor are on the hook to make magic happen. So you let out a big sigh, open up your laptop and hop on the internets, and get to work on mapping out this epic weekend in Los Angeles. As you start your search on activities, you know you’re not totally a lost kitten – you’ve partied in L.A. a few times in the past with and without the bride-to-be, and you’ve got numerous friends in high and low places who are willing to offer sound and not-so-sound recommendations – but of course you wouldn’t mind having a professional to guide you.   You know, someone totally plugged who can take all those half-formed suggestions floating around and give you accurate, actionable answers?

Look, we know you’re here for a good time, not a long time… so you’ll need some expert guidance to help narrow down your choices to round out your ideal hen-do agenda. Here, in order of our highly experienced customer service staff’s preferences, is our Discotech Top 10 list of best and most entertaining bachelorette party activities that your classy group of ladies would do well to line up during your few days in the City of Angels:

1) Dance Your Face (and Heels) Off – Nightclubs

  • Venue (Location): Varies by price and music type (click here for recommendations)
  • Cost Per Person: Free (certain guest lists); $10-100 (discounted guest lists & presale tickets); $200 and up (VIP tables)
  • Time Length of Activity: 4-5 hours
  • Best Time of Day to Go: 10:00PM-11:30PM (avoid long lines and waits)

Seems predictable, but sorry not sorry ladies: you know you LOVE to dance, so this activity must make the Top 10 of any bachelorette party list in any city. Whether your Saturday or Sunday mornings/afternoons figure to be calm ones or crazy ones, it MUST necessarily be followed by (or preceded by) an epic high-energy night filled with music and mirth. Greater Los Angeles – and Hollywood in particular – is a legendary party epicenter that epitomizes international debauchery; with the lone exception of Las Vegas and maybe NYC, you just can’t really get such high-quality versions of this revelry anywhere else in America. There are hundreds of clubbing options in the city to match your budget, vibe, and music type whether you’re into electronic, hip-hop, Top 40, or Latin / international beats. Also, no matter which club you end up at, you should always keep your eyes open – this is the playground of Hollywood’s entertainment stars, so you never know when a celebrity or two might pop up at the table next to you. One thing to note is that places get packed earlier in the night – 10:30-11:30pm are when most spots start to fill up – and close down at 2:00am. To party like a local, we recommend you schedule your dinner in the 7-9pm range and then head to the club straight afterward without having to stop at your hotel to change – your night will feel smoother and less rushed, and your clubbing time and budget as well as the bachelorette’s buzz will stretch out further.

2) Life’s a Beach – L.A. Beaches

  • Venue (Location): Varies by location / atmosphere
  • Cost Per Person: Free (parking fees for pay lots)
  • Time To Set Aside: 3-4 hours
  • Best Time of Day to Go: 9:00AM-12:00AM or 3:00PM-6:00PM (avoid the sun’s strongest midday rays so you don’t turn into a lobster)

Let’s face it: the bachelorette chose L.A. because she wanted the beaches with her betches. The best thing about the beaches in Southern California is that 99% of them are open to the public and they’re free to access. Whether your hen party is searching for an isolated destination or wants to spend a day at a busy “see and be seen” strip of sand and surf, L.A. caters to all tastes and offers a variety of beaches to choose from. Some beaches in L.A are dotted with palm trees to provide a shady respite from the heat, while others are perfect for quickly getting that pre-wedding golden suntan that will make those wedding pics pop off. Some have serene and glassy waters that call for a good book; others boast rolling, crashing waves that scream out for watersports and hair-toss action photos. The one thing that all L.A. beaches have in common is their stunning and well-groomed natural beauty, and many area beaches likewise offer plenty of water activities and proximity to restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues to appease visiting tourists. Here our our Top beaches around Los Angeles:

  1. Santa Monica Beach – Trendy, close to restaurants & nightlife, older / international tourist crowds
  2. Venice Beach – Boardwalk with attractions, close to restaurants & bars, younger local / “party” tourist crowds
  3. Malibu Beach – Surfing (intermediate), birdwatching, upscale restaurants
  4. Manhattan Beach – Beach volleyball, kid-friendly, local families beach
  5. Zuma Beach – Surfing (beginner), kid-friendly, dolphin & sea lion watching
  6. Redondo Beach – Surfing (advanced), kayaking / paddleboarding, bike-riding
  7. El Matador Beach – Scenery (featured in many movies), sea caves, whale watching
  8. El Pescador Beach – Tide pools, fishing, quiet atmosphere
  9. Will Rogers State Beach – Kitesurfing, diving, sunbathing
  10. Leo Carrillo State Beach – Swimming, windsurfing, bicycling, scenery (featured in many movies)

3) Relax, Don’t Do It – Day Spa / Massage / Salon

  • Venue (Location): Varies by price and services offered
  • Cost Per Person: $50 and up
  • Time To Set Aside: 2-4 hours
  • Best Time of Day to Go: 9:00AM-1:00PM (right when you wake up, to combat hangovers)

Every bachelorette party will need some downtime to rest and recover from the festivities of the night before… or the night to come. Spas, massages, and salons are the go-to group daytime activity if your the bachelorette is craving a relaxing atmosphere and a serene respite from all the chaos of the past months’ wedding planning. Los Angeles is big on beauty, health, and wellness; in addition to numerous boutique businesses, most of four-star and five-star hotel properties throughout the city have swanky wellness spaces, high-end hair and nail salons, and/or buzzy detox treatments. The same goes for spas; they’re sprinkled throughout every corner of the city and offer luxurious relaxation / rejuvenation packages for you and the ladies to wind down, so it’s merely a matter of finding the one that fits your style and price point.

For example: Larchmont Sanctuary Spa offers unique treatments influenced by ancient Eastern philosophies; Amy Rae Aesthetics specializes in natural / organic holistic treatments; Glen Ivy Spa is known for its hydrothermal therapy offerings. So throw on your comfiest robe, grab a glass of champagne, clear your mind of clutter, assume your favorite position of relaxation, and let your chosen spa take care of the rest. The well-deserved pampering will leave your crew of wild ones fully refreshed and ready to tackle on another exciting night in Los Angeles.

4) Put It in the Bag – Shopping

  • Venue (Location): Rodeo Drive (Beverly Hills)
  • Cost Per Person: Free to stroll (Shopping… that’s another story)
  • Time To Set Aside: 2-3 hours
  • Best Time of Day to Go: 2:00PM-6:00PM (good post-lunch or pre-dinner activity, plus downtime to recover for late-night entertainment plans)

Los Angeles has plenty of activities for you to do “’til you drop” and of course shopping is one of them. The City of Angels has long been a fashion mecca due to the trendsetting entertainment industries that call it home, and thus a destination for fashion seekers. Superior fashion retail zones and establishments are located all over the city, from Santee Alley Fashion District in Downtown L.A. to Third Street Promenade just blocks from the Pacific Ocean. The unquestionable crown jewel of shopping in L.A. though is Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, one of the world’s most famous and most exclusive luxury destinations and an unparalleled hub at the intersection of luxury, fashion, entertainment, and pop culture.

With more than 100 world-renowned stores and hotels comprising the three magnificent blocks within Rodeo Drive’s Golden Triangle, it’s easy to lose yourself in the street’s splendor and charm, and even easier to see why it’s one of the tastemaking fashion hubs in all of America. Here, shoppers can expect to find big-brand fashion retail giants – Versace, Jimmy Choo, Lanvin and Tiffany & Co.  – alongside ultra-chic local boutiques, each carrying their latest warm-weather fashions to appeal to the eyes and wallets of wealthy Angelenos and well-heeled tourists. Pro tip: after re-enacting the Julia Roberts scene from Pretty Woman and maxing out your (or the groom’s) credit card on Rodeo, hop in an Uber and skip on over to the stretch of quirkier independent niche fashion houses on Melrose Drive, where you might just find that perfect piece of jewelry or accessory to complement your matching bridesmaids dresses.

5) Grab Life By the Pole – Pole Dancing Classes

  • Venue (Location): Evolve Pole Fitness (Mid-City)
  • Cost Per Person: $20 and up
  • Time To Set Aside: 2 hours
  • Best Time of Day to Go: 4:30PM (required start time for class)

Perhaps the last thing you want to do is go to school while on your bachelorette getaway… unless it’s a fun group class that doubles as an ideal female bonding activity. Taught by professional dancers and gymnasts – and a few moonlighting exotic dancers – and featured on US Weekly and in several reality TV shows including Love & Hip Hop. Evolve is conveniently located in the middle of metro L.A. and covers all the basic aspects, movements, and techniques for executing lap dances and stripper pole sequences. If you’re feeling more daring, several advanced classes combine the art of pole fitness with Cirque du Soleil-style aerial workouts using suspended hoops. The 60-minute and 90-minute classes are chock-full of expert tips on how to soar, tease, and titillate like Hollywood’s most seasoned ladies of the night, and the unforgettable experience culminates with a high-energy choreographed routine for the bride-to-be to show off to her fiancee… and for you to show off to friends and strangers at future house parties.

6) Where the Wild Things Are – Wine Safari

Malibu Wine Safaris - Los Angeles, CA
  • Venue: Malibu Wine Safaris (Malibu)
  • Cost Per Person: $65 and up
  • Time To Set Aside: 4 hours
  • Best Time of Day to Go: 10:30AM (start time for early tour; avoid the hotter afternoon temperatures)

What could possibly be more fun than the Catalina Wine Mixer, you ask? Umm, how about a Malibu Wine Safari? If the bride tribe has a few adventurous animal lovers, Malibu Wine Safaris combines the kiddie experience of a zoo with the adult experience of wine-tasting within a rollicking, unforgettable nature tour. In a custom-built open-air safari vehicle, you’ll make a fun jaunt through the lush 1,000-acre Saddlerock Ranch and vineyard in Malibu, just 30 minutes from Hollywood / Downtown LA.

You’ll make planned stops along the way to take in the scenery, sample vino varietals, and get up-close-and-personal with new friends: zebras, water buffalo, alpacas, bison, and the the star of the show, Stanley the Giraffe (win their affection – and the perfect photo – by feeding them carrots, pellets, and bananas). The wines – Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel, and seasonal blends – are sourced from local vineyards in the Santa Monica Mountains; they’re passable, and what they lack for in high quality relative to other California wines they make up for in abundance. And after the magical tour, you can stop by the on-site tasting room and picnic area for a late-afternoon nosh or even a spirit much stiffer than wine from the fully stocked bar should you feel the calling to unleash the wild party animal within.

7) Be a Reality TV Star – Upscale Brunches

  • Venue (Location): Varies by price, location, and cuisine
  • Cost Per Person: $20 and up
  • Time Length of Activity: 3-4 hours
  • Best Time of Day to Go: 11:30AM-2:30PM (you know…. the brunching hour)

If you and your gals bond weekly over good ‘ol trashy reality TV, then you know that many of the most emotionally charged scenes seem to happen when your favorite characters are dressed to the nines while quaffing champagne and cocktails over brunch in one of the city’s hottest restaurants. If you are looking for the perfect spot to brunch in L.A., we recommend you head on over to West Hollywood. West Hollywood is the reality TV epicenter of the world – scenes from many shows are filmed around here – and has the best high-end brunch culture, from the trendy restaurants to the exotic booze blends to the trendy wall art and movie-set ambiances.

You’ve got plenty of great fabulous brunch choices in WeHo, but if you call yourself a true reality TV die-hard then you’ll need to lock down a coveted reservation at either Pump or SUR, the brainchildren of British TV personality Lisa Vanderpump (“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”), one of reality TV’s biggest superstars. Pump and Sur are two spots that boast sprawling indoor / outdoor patio layouts, with stylish booths and full bars adorned with garden decor, lantern-adorned trellises, romantic lighting, and walls and furniture showcasing Vanderpump family pictures. They are classy yet inviting Hollywood “it” spots that turn into booze-soaked ultra lounges and “see and be seen” scenes as afternoon turns into evening – drinking / dining / mingling destinations whether you’re fans of the Real Housewives franchise or not, and the perfect spot for the bachelorette brigade to reenact your favorite dramatic scenes, real or staged, from your favorite reality TV characters.

8) Float & Flex – Yoga + Paddleboard Class

  • Venue (Location): YOGAqua (Marina Del Rey)
  • Cost Per Person: $44
  • Time Length of Activity: 2 hours
  • Best Time of Day to Go: 9:00AM-11:30AM (burn some calories before a hearty brunch)

Perhaps the only thing more “L.A.” than stand-up paddleboarding… is yoga. For the bride-to-be that aims to do it all, a group date in Marina Del Rey can kill two glorious birds with one stone. Sarah Tiefenthaler’s YOGAqua, operating since 2011, offers combo paddleboarding / yoga classes for rowing yogis of all levels. Students are taken through a Vinyasa Yoga flow with instructions customized and detailed for the paddleboard, so even if they have not been practicing yoga for years – or if they have never been on a paddleboard – they will be able to balance and follow along with no problem.

A YOGAqua class is 90 minutes long; the first 30 minutes dedicated to learning how to properly use the board and peacefully paddle around the harbor, and the remaining hour is dedicated to mind-calming yoga movements while atop the paddleboard. Each board has an individual anchor that is dropped down before the Yoga portion of class begins, so that students don’t drift away of fall off while focusing on their form. Serenity and balance atop the calm deep blue waters of the Pacific Ocean? Yes, please.

9) Make a Splash – Dayclubs / Pool Parties

W Hollywood rooftop pool party - Los Angeles, CA
  • Venue (Location): Varies by price and music type (click here for recommendations)
  • Cost Per Person: Free (certain guest lists); $5-100 (discounted guest lists & presale tickets); $200 and up (VIP loungers, daybeds, & cabanas)
  • Time Length of Activity: 4-5 hours
  • Best Time of Day to Go: 2:30PM-3:30PM (avoid long lines and waits)

With the weather in L.A. so pristine for the better part of ten months out of the year, day drinking is a must for any bachelor party agenda…. and there are plenty daytime parties around the city that epitomize the sumptuous hedonism of the Hollywood lifestyle. At least one of these day parties on your bachelorette weekend agenda is a must; even for ladies who don’t like nightclubs, the eye candy, sunshine, cool plunges to beat the heat make it worth it. Find one of the hottest events going on that weekend using our Discotech app, and go see one of your favorite DJs or performing artists. For a Saturday pool party, Wet at W Hollywood and Skybar are the best party scenes especially if money ain’t a thang; if you’re not in the mood for getting wet, wait for Sunday and hit up Penthouse or Liaison, two of the best late-afternoon boozy brunch parties on the planet. Between the killer music lineups, badass surroundings, and (did we mention) eye candy, these four day party venues are head-and-shoulders above the rest if your bachelorette is into nothing but the best.

10) Heavenly Angels – Hollywood Hills Hike

  • Venue (Location): Runyon Canyon (Hollywood Hills)
  • Cost Per Person: Free
  • Time To Set Aside: 3-4 hours
  • Best Time of Day to Go: 10:00AM-1:00PM (more crowded / active scene, plus avoid the brutal afternoon heat)

Located just 20 minutes from most L.A. neighborhoods, Runyon Canyon in the Hollywood Hills is worth the short commute and offers a variety of challenging hiking trails. We know you’re all about the beautiful views though, and with its heavenly perch high above the City of Angels, Runyon Canyon is the perfect 3-4 hour jaunt for spectacular skyline lovers (you can see all the way to Downtown LA) and Instagram influencers alike. And if you’re lucky, you might even catch some wild rabbits and other critters while you’re out on those trails getting your exercise on and sweating out the alcohol from the night before… or preemptively burning calories for the night to come. Oh, did you mean a different kind of beautiful views? Runyon Canyon has those too: it’s a not-so-secret outdoor workout hotspot for those hunky, impossibly chiseled aspiring actors and models who while waiting for callbacks tend bars, wait tables, pour lattes, valet cars, or otherwise drive the L.A. nightlife and entertainment economy forward on the basis of their boyish good looks.

Bonus Activity: Men at Work – Male Revue Show

  • Venue (Location): Hollywood Men (Hollywood)
  • Cost Per Person: $20 and up
  • Time Length of Activity: 2-3 hours
  • Best Time of Day to Go: 7:00PM-10:00PM (show start times for most revues are in evenings)

In the town where one’s wildest dreams can come true overnight, it’s no cause for shame at all if the bachelorette party wants to include a more magical fantasy ride on the naughty side. Male revue shows are the quintessential way to get the pulses racing, and Walk of Fame is home to Hollywood Men, one of the best male revue shows in the world. Yes you’ll get your fill of good-looking Adonises of all races with chiseled physiques and washboard abs, but along with that you’ll also get expertly choreographed high-energy dance routines that ooze charisma, athleticism, swagger, and sex appeal. For many of the shows, you’ll also be offered the opportunity to snap photos with the hunks of your choice as well as treat the bride-to-be to an up-close-and-personal lap dance. And along with such multi-sensory delights, a bit of light internet research beforehand can yield plenty of “bang for your buck” in the form of discounts and bundling packages that include limo rides, fancy dinners, and cocktails as value-added side dishes to your lip-smacking main course.

In conclusion: Los Angeles is definitely a bachelorette party destination where a lot of good times can be had by a group of ladies along all points of the budget spectrum. It is a magical beachfront oasis where both indoor and outdoor activities can spice up any hen party agenda… if you know the lay of the land. Your friends and nightlife guides here at Discotech are an essential part of that equation – we help you browse and book free guest lists and cheap presale tickets or VIP bottle service for the hottest nightclubs and pool parties in L.A. What are you waiting for? Top 10 Best Live Music Venues in Los Angeles

There is no shortage of live music to be found in Los Angeles. Cavernous, state-of-the-art venues with naming rights granted to well-heeled corporate sponsors host concerts for the biggest music artists in town, while all across the City of Angels stretch various lounges, bars, restaurants, and even street performers offering up enticing song and instrument to entertain the city’s 48 million annual visitors. Yes, the nightclubs of Los Angeles also do offer showstopping live performance spectacles featuring the best and brightest contemporary hip-hop and electronic music stars. However, if your musical tastes are less mainstream and more niche – think rock, blues, country, reggae, classical, or pop of yesteryear – and your party vibe more chill, then you’ll want to ditch the dance floors for comfy chairs, in-seat drinks, and great sight lines while watching your favorite artists perform live.

And now, for some music to your ears, we present Discotech’s Top 10 best live music venues – big and small – in the city of Los Angeles.

1. Hollywood Bowl – Hollywood

Concert at Hollywood Bowl, Los Angeles, CA

Tucked away in an aesthetically pleasing – both visually and sonically – crevasse of the magical Hollywood Hills, the iconic 18,000-seat Hollywood Bowl has the nostalgic power to pull on the heartstrings of even the most cynical of Angeleno veterans. The Los Angeles Philharmonic was the inaugural act to open this impossibly beautiful jewel of a venue in 1922 at the height of the musically groundbreaking Roaring ’20s; since then, the Hollywood Bowl has hosted large-format concerts of all music genres every summer season, and every LA local has at least one unforgettable memory of catching a show there. Sadly, despite surviving years of war and economic turmoil, the Bowl’s impressive annual streak of shows will likely come to an end in 2020, due to current city government restrictions surrounding large gatherings due to the coronavirus pandemic. Discotech looks forward to Hollywood Bowl re-opening in 2021, and we’ll be one of the first to get in line for tickets – seriously, it’s walking distance from our Hollywood office – to one of their first announced shows.

2. Palladium – Hollywood

Crowd at Palladium, Los Angeles

Another legendary Los Angeles music venue with one of the coolest venue names in the galaxy, the Palladium was once upon the time the hip spot for your grandparents’ generation of Hollywood hip-cats: Frank Sinatra and the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra headlined the inaugural show here on Halloween night in 1940. Beverly Hills-based live events company Live Nation gave the beautiful but aging cougar a million-dollar facelift and a 20-year lease in 2007, and it has resumed its status as a must-visit experience for Millennials and Gen Z. The Palladium boasts 11,200-square-foot GA-only dance floor, with a mezzanine and a floor level that can hold up to 4,000 people. The structure includes an impressive circular entrance foyer with winding balcony stairs and a domed ceiling crafted in Art Deco style that gives the acoustics here a unique melodic reverberation. Or in words of today’s young music heads, the sounds “slap” and “just HIT DIFFERENT” at this memorable spot.

3. The Wiltern – Koreatown

interior of The Wiltern, Los Angeles

Located on the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Western Avenue (Wil… tern, get it?) in the heart up-and-coming K-town, the Wiltern is an aging art deco concert hall that is smallish by today’s standards (capacity is 1,850). For its standing room-only shows, space comes at a premium and the sight lines to its stage are not very good compared to other LA music venues. But what the Wiltern lacks in ambiance it more than makes up for on the programming side of the coin: the diversity and quality of the live music artists its management books are the envy of venue directors worldwide. On one day you’ll see genre-specific notables such as Snow Patrol, the Growlers, or Maren Morris; on another day, a global superstar like Madonna may announce a multi-date residency, causing a run on tickets at this classic but severely space-limited bandbox.

4. Greek Theatre – Los Feliz / Griffith Park

greek theatre audience

If not for the beaches, then summer in L.A. is for outdoor concerts… and this 6,000-seat open-air theatre on the eastern side of the Hollywood Hills stages delivers everything you would hope for in your midsummer night’s dream. With it’s woodsy setting rivaling the Hollywood Bowl’s more modern urban cityscape digs, the Greek plays host to festival-like summer music shows by local and national acts. Unfortunately, with this dreamy scene comes the inevitable nightmare of parking: “stacked” parking means even if you avoid headaches and arrive early, getting out of the parking lot often takes longer than the show… and VIP “Quick Parking” is a whopping $75.

5. The Novo – Downtown LA

Concert at The Novo, Los Angeles, CA

The Novo – formerly Club Nokia – is 2,400-seat indoor music venue located at the L.A. Live entertainment complex in DTLA. Operated by promotions giant Goldenvoice and sponsored by tech giant Microsoft, The ovo holds a key advantage advantage over other older L.A. venues: it’s outfitted with all the modern trappings and conveniences, by virtue of having been built later (its $80 million construction took 3 years and was completed in 2008). This high-energy venue focuses on emerging music acts and culturally-focused music/dance shows, while also providing an excellent venue rental space for corporate events and private parties.

6. The Forum – Inglewood

Once the proud home of the Showtime-era Los Angeles Lakers and the “it” spot for ’80s Hollywood pop culture and cool, The Forum had long since fallen out of favor once Staples Center was erected in 1998. But after a recent $100 million renovation from New York’s Madison Square Garden (MSG) Company and renewed interest from the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers in relocating there – plus massive infrastructure investments by the city in its surrounding Inglewood neighborhood – The Forum is well on its way to wining back its L.A. buzz. As a music venue, it’s always been top-notch: the bowl shape of the auditorium keeps sight lines clear and near and sounds crisp. For this reason, big-name concerts have never really stopped making this venue their stop while their national and global tours swing through the City of Angels.

7. El Rey Theatre – Miracle Mile

El Rey Theater, Los Angeles, CA

A gorgeous, well-kept holdover from the bygone Art Deco era, the 800-seat El Rey runs an modern, eclectic programming roster that is anything but old-school. In the late ’80s the venue became a popular L.A. dance club called Wall Street; it was designated as Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument No. 520 in 1991, and since 1994 it has been a live music venue offering concerts and other performances. Parking is easy compared to other vnues, the acoustics are excellent, and there’s not a bad seat or line of sight in the house.

8. The Fonda Theatre – Hollywood

Fonda Theatre, Los Angeles, CA

A fresh air break – or even a smoke break – doesn’t mean that you’ll miss the show at Hollywood’s Fonda Theatre (formerly the Music Box), where not only is the internal sound system wired up to the open-air rooftop “speakeasy,” but the live on-stage performance is projected onto the rooftop’s exterior walls. This setup – along with comfy sofas scattered about and an unobstructed view of the bustling Hollywood streets below – makes the top floor of the historic Spanish Revival-style building some of the most coveted live music real estate in the city. Inside, Hieronymus Bosch-like hellscapes line the walls of the 1920s theater, which provides a fitting backdrop for the off-the-beaten-path music acts – mostly indie rock – that grace its stage.

9. The Belasco – Downtown LA

belasco theater, Los Angeles, CA

Located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, the Belasco is a spectacular multi-room event and entertainment complex. Thanks to a recent $12 million restoration, the Belasco Theater was able to retain most of its original dramatic architecture and detailing, and management has invested in putting on numerous show dates with mid-tier and top-tier music talent across all genres. The venue houses the largest D&B Audiotechnik Sound System in Southern California as well as a state-of-the art lighting system, which makes its live production creative potential for large-scale electronic music gatherings immense. For this reason – and because it is a ticketing-friendly 18-and-over venue – some of the notable EDM genre event production outfits with cult followings (e.g. Bassrush, Desert Hearts, Minimal Effort) host their touring events here when they drop in to the City of Angels.

The indie music and indie art scene has always been a part of L.A.’s DNA, and never more so than in the hipster epicenter neighborhood of Silver Lake. Silver Lake’s tent pole entertainment venue for years was called Spaceland, and after a relatively recent renovation it is now known as Satellite. Despite the new name, this colorful LGBTQ-friendly no-dress-code come-as-you-are venue remains the leading L.A. shrine to all things indie. For such a small venue, The Satellite has a surprisingly high-quality sound system, along with an upstairs lounge sporting a less crowded bar and photo booth for single hipsters to mingle. Monday nights – which feature free monthly residencies for buzzy local bands getting closer to their Hollywood dreams – is a scene straight out of your favorite 90s movie, and totally worth checking out dude.

Top 7 Best Pool Parties in Los Angeles in 2021

Nothing quite captures the summer season more than swimsuits, get togethers , rooftop bars and pool parties in Los Angeles (though outdoor adventures and ice cream take a close second). When it comes to Vegas-style pool parties and laid-back, rooftop gatherings, L.A.’s buzzy hotspots have enough lively events to keep you entertained all summer long.

The season events kick off with a splash of pool parties thrown at shindig-friendly hotels around town, from the heart of Hollywood to the rooftops of Downtown Los Angeles. If you’re looking to lounge (or dance) by the pool, enjoy great must and a cocktail in hand, be prepared to arrive early or grab a hotel room the night before, as most parties cap out at 500 people.

Of course, the fastest way to a coveted cabana or table space is via bottle service packages, which can run hundreds of dollars, but you’ll buy the best seat in the house. Book bottle service, buy tickets, and sign up for guest-list directly on Discotech’s free mobile app. Here are some of the best summer pool party options in LA:

W Hollywood

A Free Entry Rooftop Bar

Guests at the W head to the Wet Deck at 10am for a pool party where the boozy bashes collide with beautiful people, great tunes and an incredible view of the city. The best part? It’s completely free. Enjoy a cocktail by the bar or hang by the pool for a well-deserved post-workout treat. As for the rest of the weekend, top LA DJs will be spinning from 1pm to 5pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Though the Wet deck is primarily reserved for hotel guests, daybeds and cabanas can be reserved for non-guests with food and beverage spending minimums.

The pool comes complete with DJs, vibrating waterbeds and views on par with the best bars in LA. A Historic Venue Home to Wild Pool Parties and the Celebs Who Frequent Them

If you’re looking to party poolside in the heart of Hollywood, the long standing Roosevelt hotel is your perfect go-to. After a 2003 restoration by designer Dodd Mitchell, this 1927 landmark once more welcomes the A-listers who frequented Tropicana during Hollywood’s heyday. Although a famous landmark, there is nothing outdated about a Tropicana pool party, as the crowds are young, the music is trendy and the party’s more alive than ever.

The Highlight Room

Luxury and wild times collide together giving guests the ultimate pool party experience

The Highlight Room is found atop ten stories high with unobstructed, 360 degree views of Los Angeles, ranging from the famed Hollywood Sign and surrounding Hollywood Hills to the skyline of Downtown. During the day through the summer, Highlight Room is just as fun. The Highlight Room is definitely one of the top pool parties in LA, as the vibe is luxurious but focuses on what’s really important, and that’s providing guests with an epic pool party.

For those looking for a more smaller pool party, this the spot for you. With a very limited capacity, it becomes hard to avoid being engulfed by crowds partying to the music. The music has historically been deep house, so it’s safe to assume groovy tunes await you at this pool party. If looking for a great time to party under the sun, this pool party surely won’t disappoint!

Prepare for a mix of DJs, live music, stand-up comedians, pool parties, R-rated bingo, arts & crafts and more. Be on the lookout for more daytime pool parties on the Ace Hotel’s event calendar, which are sure to roll out during the summer.

LA Dayclub/Pool Party FAQ

What are the best pool parties in Los Angeles?

The Tropicana (Weho), Skybar at the Mondrian (Weho), W Hollywood Rooftop (Hollywood), The Standard (DTLA), and Highlight Room (Hollywood) are the best pool parties in Los Angeles.

What time do pool parties start in Los Angeles?

Pool parties typically start around 11 AM.

How does the LA pool party scene compare to Las Vegas?

You won’t find huge beach clubs in Los Angeles – most of the pools here have a more intimate vibe. Max capacity of most pool party venues is around 500 people. On any given weekend you probably won’t find major DJs playing at pool parties either – it will typically be local talent spinning.

Best Clubs in Hollywood, Los Angeles

Times have changed, but the great times at these venues haven’t. As clubbing becomes more saught after by celebrities and influencers, Hollywood remains one of the top spots to go out. Here are some of the top trending clubs in Los Angeles Hollywood that we recommend checking out.

Looking for the hottest clubs in Hollywood, Los Angeles? See upcoming events sign up for guest list, and book table service directly on the free Discotech Mobile App. Or reach out to our help line directly at 4157356716 – we can help you pick a spot for your next night out in Hollywood.

Warwick

Part rustic cocktail lounge part Hollywood club, Warwick (formerly Club L), is a warehouse of exposed brick, fireplaces, and unfinished ceilings. Take the typical Hollywood club, but give it more of a rough, indie feel, and vastly upgrade the alcoholic options to seasonal craft cocktails made with better booze and quality ingredients. As one can see from the layout, it’s a space suited to table/bottle service, but in this case the bar program, and yes, there’s a “bar program,” is executed by top talent Jason Bran and Damian Windsor who have likely liquored you up in the past four years at The Roger Room.

The interior decor effortlessly creates the vibe of an exclusive and classy ballroom reserved for royalty, which makes sense since you’re most likely not going to be able to get in if you don’t opt for bottle service. However, don’t be mistaken. Warwick is an experience hard to forget.

Entry is at the doorman’s discretion. To guarantee admission, we highly recommend bottle service at Warwick.

Protip – Warwick wednesdays is one of the hottest parties in LA. Other upcoming events at Warwick.

Avalon

Avalon since the 1920’s has been one of the biggest hotspots in Hollywood, hosting headliners such as the Beatles and Soundgarden. This historic venue underwent some changes in 2003, as the club had a major makeover that turned the space into a DJ-driven dance club hotspot. Big names continue to shake the cavernous hall, but the emphasis has shifted to electronic compososions. On most weekends you’ll find more underground DJs on the decks spinning tunes early into the morning. Bardot, a lounge above Avalon stays open for the after party on Friday night / Saturday morning until 6-7 AM. Browse Upcoming events at Avalon and get on the discounted guest list!

Regardless of the evening’s agenda, lines form deep in front of the Spanish Colonial façade, with patrons ranging from mini-dress beauties to shaggy rave kids itching to sweat their sneakers off.

A pair of long bars flank the room, as well as small cylindrical tables and white couches for the bottle service crowd. Those looking to escape the revelry can head to the open balcony, home to VIP lounges, a third bar, and bird’s-eye views of the broiling masses below. Funky hipsters and celebrities often venture to Bardot, the club’s sister lounge upstairs.

Nothing beats Avalon when looking to experience for some of the best nu-electro, techno, and house music in LA. Avalon Hollywood recently completed a million dollar renovation of the club which included brand new lighting and sound systems. This place is a must-see.

Academy

Academy LA is one of the most fun and versatile clubs in Hollywood. Hosted by Insomniac, (the creators of the rave-tastic Wonderland and Electronic Daisy Carnival festivals) Academy LA books both emerging DJ talent and high-profile EDM artists. If the club looks familiar to you, its because it was formerly Create (and before that Vanguard) before becoming Academy.

The three-room, 20,000 square foot space features an epic soundsystem and Hollywood’s largest LED wall. I will repeat that again. Hollywood’s LARGEST LED wall. Words are not enough to describe the unbelievable experience one will have attending this venue. For those looking to downshift and desensitize, one can casually hang out on a tree-lined patio illuminated by simple strands of party lights.

Though this major production of a club may not seem like the type to forgo bottle service at private tables, the fantastic layout of the club makes it not only a great place to pop bottles in booths, but a bonafide space to sweat it out to EDM festival trance and house headliners.

Academy has a guest list, tickets for purchase and tables for reservation. See who’s spinning and get on the guestlist – upcoming Events at Academy LA

Playhouse

This celebrity-friendly luxury club with eclectic DJs, comes equipped with a vast dance floor & a exciting party atmosphere. Playhouse according to their website was voted #4 Best Nightclub in the world. We are not here to play favorites or decide who is number one, but Playhouse is undeniably a current top tier club. Playhouse is a modern ode to stylish escapism in heart of Hollywood. The versatile design creates the ultimate entertainment playground for adults.

Located in the long-abandoned building that once housed the Fox Theatre, Playhouse Hollywood is a sprawling, 13,000-square-foot Vegas-style nightclub with a sexy circus theme. Popular with eager young club kids and college students, the impressive high-ceilinged space is dominated by a huge oval bar presided over by scantily-clad bartenders who, when not slinging drinks, leap onto trapezes for some aerial acrobatics or regale the crowd with a provocative burlesque show in the elevated cages. It doesn’t get any better then dancing to bangers while watching a free burlesque show.

High rollers can make their way to the elegant VIP lounge upstairs, which features numerous gold and black banquettes, a second bar and DJ, and a slightly mellower vibe. A whirlwind combination of high design, circus visuals, and great performances, Playhouse offers three-ring bedlam that die-hard club fans won’t want to miss.

General Admission at Playhouse is $20-$40 depending on how busy the night is. Book a table or get on the guest list at Playhouse.

Argyle

Housed in the former space of Tru nightclub, the Argyle is a lounge-club combo new to the scene in Hollywood. The main entrance leads down a flight of stairs into an area with comfy couches and the look of a library. This is what management likes to refer to as the cocktail den. “Downstairs in the craft cocktail lounge, you can take a breather and actually talk to the person you’re with,” says Travis Bass of the Tru Hospitality group. “We wanted a 1920s speakeasy down here, but upscale in London or Paris with no Prohibition.”

The venue’s side entrance on Selma Avenue leads upstairs to the nightclub, where there is a dance floor, fancy lighting and the only two-story VIP booth in all of Los Angeles. The Argyle’s website describes the club as “a champagne jam where high art, high fashion, and high times mingle on the dance floor and the DJ is only as important as the next song.

Argyle does not do walk ups. You will have to know a promoter or reserve a table.

Upcoming Events at Argyle

Sound Nightclub

Sound Nightclub is THE bastion of deep house / underground electronic music in LA. It’s a small, intimate venue with a one-of-a-kind Pioneer sound system that will rock your socks. The venue has a raw and industrial look with lots of California redwood furniture and walls and offers a fairly spacious dance floor located right in front of the DJs perch as well as bottle service for those high rollers.

As suggested in the name, the venue boasts a unique and cutting edge sound system and a killer A/V system, so the visual elements are as stimulating as the unbelievable audio. This is a great place to go in Hollywood that actually books talents who play good deep house and more minimal/artful house rather than your typical top 40 hits and popular house music bangers.

Space Yacht on Tuesdays mostly features bass heavy lineups and has garnered one of the fastest growing followings in the bass music scene. Framework Fridays are about underground deep house and techno music and the people who live for it.

Sound Presents mainly features house music. On occasion Sound will host some well known DJs (Kaskade, Afrojack, Markus Schulz, etc) but more often than not you’ll get the likes of Guy Gerber, Seth Troxler, EDX, Digweed, etc. See who’s spinning at Sound Nightclub! This is one of our favorite clubs in LA!

The Argyle

Warwick
