Recently Live Nation‘s CEO Michael Rapino confirmed that the company is planning a return to full-scale shows by summer 2021. The projection was followed by an immediate stock jump after an efficacy report on Pfizer and BioNTech’s co-developed COVID-19 vaccine, in which it was said to be more than 90 percent effective in preventing COVID-19 in patients without prior SARS-CoV-2 infection.
Billboard reports, that upon purchasing a ticket fans would need to verify via third-party health apps that they have already been vaccinated or have tested negative for COVID-19 approximately 24 – 72 hours prior to shows. In the article, Ticketmaster president Mark Yovich explains,
“Ticketmaster’s goal is to provide enough flexibility and options that venues and fans have multiple paths to return to events, and is working to create integrations to our API and leading digital ticketing technology as we will look to tap into the top solutions based on what’s green-lit by officials and desired by clients.”
The plan, which is still in it’s early stages of development, will rely on the Ticketmaster digital ticket app, third-party health information companies like Clear Health Pass or IBM’s Digital Health Pass, and testing and vaccine distribution providers like LabCorp and the CVSMinute Clinic. Ticketmaster will reportedly not store or access medical records under the plan nor hasn’t established a date for when it will halt proactive COVID-19 safety measures.
